Mima Ceramics is line of hand-crafted tableware made by Michelle Organ in Toronto, Ont. Each piece is turned on the wheel or slip-casted, trimmed, sanded and fired in an electric kiln. Surface decoration in the form of glazing comes next, followed by a final firing. All items are food safe and microwave safe, unless other wise noted. Pottery is dishwasher safe however hand wash is recommended for longevity.

Each piece is both functional and playful. Craft, and play and years of practice are intertwined. Inspiration comes from everywhere, clothing, books, history, food and the past and the future. Each piece showcases the beauty in simplistic design and plays with different clays, textures and colors.  Mima is always changing, developing and growing.

The constant goal is to have each piece live on seamlessly from the studio into the domestic life of its new owner, to be used and loved daily.

Mima (or Mims for short) was the name given to Michelle Organ by her childhood next door neighbour and her family still uses it today.

After studying Product Design in NYC, Michelle returned back to Toronto and started making ceramics in her parents basement. When that became difficult, she founded and ran The Shop Toronto, Toronto’s first makerspace solely dedicated to ceramics and craft, for 9 years before making the difficult decision to close the studio in April, 2022. Mima Ceramics was started at The Shop but will now live its own life at the new studio, Mima Ceramics Studio and Showroom.
